Where It Started
The story of Vulcan begins long before the company existed - back when a young apprentice was handed his first set of tools and told, “Let’s see what you can do.” That apprentice was Chris Mack. He learned the trade the traditional way: on the tools, on real sites, surrounded by people who believed that craftsmanship mattered and that everyone deserved a chance to prove themselves.
Building Something of His Own
Years later, after working across major commercial projects and busy domestic sites, Chris decided to build something of his own. He wanted a company that reflected the values he’d grown up with in the trade - pride in the work, respect for the craft, and the belief that skill is something forged over time.
The Meaning Behind Vulcan
The name Vulcan felt right from the start. In Roman mythology, Vulcan was the god of fire and metalworking - the original master craftsman. He forged tools, armour and creations built to last. That spirit of strength, precision and hands-on expertise became the foundation of the brand.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
Today, Vulcan Electrical Services carries that legacy forward. Every installation, every test, every cable run is approached with the same mindset: do it properly, do it safely, and take pride in the result. The hammer in the logo is a nod to the roots of the trade; the circuit lines reflect the modern craft we work in. Together, they tell the story of where we’ve come from - and where we’re going.

Vulcan Electrical Services was founded in 2020 by Chris Mack, an Approved Electrician who began his own career the way many great tradespeople do - as an apprentice who was given a chance. After years working for a large electrical contractor and gaining experience across domestic, commercial and construction environments, Chris set out to build a company shaped by the values that helped him succeed: professionalism, trust, and the belief that people grow when someone invests in them.
Today, Vulcan is a close knit team of qualified, accredited electricians who take pride in delivering safe, compliant and high quality electrical work across East Sussex. We work well together because we share the same mindset: do the job properly, communicate clearly, and treat every client and every site with respect.

Meet the Vulcan Team
Vulcan’s strength comes from a team that blends experience, technical skill and a genuine commitment to doing things right.
Chris is the driving force behind Vulcan Electrical Services. He began his career as an apprentice, learning the trade from the ground up and gaining hands on experience with a major electrical contractor. Those early years shaped his approach to leadership: stay curious, stay accountable, and always make room for people who want to learn.
After building a strong technical foundation and working across a wide range of domestic, commercial and construction projects, Chris launched Vulcan in 2020 with a clear vision - to create a company known for its workmanship, reliability and genuine respect for the craft.
Today, he oversees all technical delivery, ensures compliance with industry standards, leads health & safety practices, and supports the team on site. Chris is calm, meticulous and highly respected by colleagues and clients alike. He sets the standard for how Vulcan operates: professional, friendly and committed to doing things properly.
Chris S is one of Vulcan’s lead installers, known for his precision and his ability to take on complex systems with confidence. He carries out initial verification and certification, supervises electricians and apprentices, and ensures every installation meets the standards expected of an Approved Electrician.
He’s methodical, steady under pressure, and a natural mentor - the kind of person who raises the standard of everyone working around him.
Tom delivers domestic and commercial installations with a focus on quality and client experience. He supports fault finding, remedial work, site setup and handovers - often being the friendly face clients meet on the day.
Reliable, tidy and technically strong, Tom is the kind of electrician people remember for the right reasons.
Harry works across lighting, socket and power installations, supporting testing, commissioning and documentation. He brings energy, pride and a strong work ethic to every job, helping maintain Vulcan’s reputation for tidy, compliant and well executed installations.
He’s a key part of the team’s day to day delivery and someone clients regularly compliment for his attitude and professionalism.
Joel is at the beginning of his electrical career, developing his skills through hands on experience and structured training. He supports cable routing, containment, basic installs, material handling and site preparation - always under direct supervision, as part of Vulcan’s commitment to safe and responsible apprenticeship development.
Joel represents what Vulcan stands for: giving people the same opportunities that helped build the company in the first place. As the business grows, so will the apprenticeship pathway - with the aim of bringing in a new apprentice for every new contract won.
Our Certifications
At Vulcan Electrical Services, every job is carried out with the highest standards of safety, workmanship and compliance. Our accreditations demonstrate our commitment to doing things properly - whether we’re working in homes, commercial buildings or on construction sites across East Sussex.
NAPIT approval confirms that our electrical work meets strict industry standards for safety, compliance and technical competence. It means our installations are independently assessed, and you can trust that every project is completed to the correct regulations.
Our electricians hold nationally recognised City & Guilds qualifications, demonstrating proven technical training and up to date knowledge of modern electrical systems. This ensures every installation is carried out by skilled, competent professionals.
This accreditation shows that Vulcan meets recognised industry and procurement standards for working safely and professionally on construction sites. It gives main contractors and site managers confidence in our processes, documentation and on site conduct.
The SMAS (Safety Management Advisory Services) certification demonstrates that our health & safety management meets SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) standards. It reassures clients and contractors that we operate safely, follow robust procedures, and maintain a compliant working environment on every job.
